Other Websites of the Authority
The National Transport Authority is active in a number of different areas and offers user-friendly websites to help people learn more and participate in these areas. For example, our smartertravelworkplaces.ie is a very useful resource for workers and employers who would like to use more sustainable transport means to get to and from work. One project supported by SmarterTravel is our pedometerchallenge.ie where teams of colleagues in workplaces all over Ireland compete against eachother to see who can take the most strides. And carsharing.ie offers people the chance to offer or find lifts that suit them – to or from work, sports events, weddings or other routine or one-off journeys.
Our new Transport for Ireland website will become a one-stop-shop for people looking for integrated information to help them get around more easily. At the moment, it provides information on our new Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) service for bus users, which is being ‘live piloted’ in Dublin, and the website gives a facility for people using the new service to tell us about their experiences. This will help us ensure that the RTPI service rolls out smoothly. Our plan is that this website will eventually provide more and better information to people planning journeys than they can easily access at the moment.
In the Greater Dublin Area, the transport companies, Dublin City Council, business representative groups and the Gardai have come together to co-ordinate their work and to help keep the city open and thriving through the construction period ahead. The transportfordublin.ie website details ongoing work and progress from this group.
