MONDAY 13TH MAY 2024
CYCLE FOR LIFE

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May and will include:

  • Let’s Go! Beginner Balance bike sessions
  • Safety Training
  • Road Travel – This will consist of a community cycle.

Time:  9.00am-3pm (School Hours)

Date: Monday 13th– Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Ardattin National School and Village, Co. Carlow

Suitability: Children and Parents

CYCLE TO SCHOOL WEEK

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May. Pupils with bikes will be encouraged to cycle to school for the full week.

Time:  9.00am – 3pm (School Hours)

Date: Monday 13th – Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Holy Family Boys National School

Suitability: Children who attend the school

CYCLE WATERFORD GREENWAY

Cycle 20/30km of the Waterford Greenway using electric bikes.

Time:  9am-3pm

Location: Waterford Greenway

Suitability: Active Retired members

CARLOW EDUCATE TOGETHER_- ACTIVE TRAVEL

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May. It will include:

  • Afternoon cycling sessions with improver cyclists in School. These will be children from the ASD classes
  • Senior Infants Cycling Lessons Daily
  • Senior Classes cycle from School and Town Park and further along the Barrow Track
  • Community Bike Bus with children, staff, and parents to our school across Carlow Town

Time:  9.00am – 3pm (School Hours)

Date: Monday 13th – Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Carlow Educate Together, Athy Rd., Carlow, River Barrow Track for the senior class cycle.

Suitability: Children, Staff, and Parents

BIKE WEEK COMPETITION & CYCLING INSTRUCTION

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May and will include:

  • Cycling Instructor to deliver Workshops with all the classes.
  • Bike week competition where children will do a project and art competitions with the theme ‘Cycling’.

Time:  9.00am – 3pm (School Hours)

Location: Tinryland National School, Tinryland, Co.Carlow

Suitability: Primary School Children

CYCLE TRAINING COURSES

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May and will include:

  • Cycle Right Training Course
  • Safety Training
  • Rules of the road

Time:  9.00am – 3pm (School Hours)

Date: Monday 13th – Friday 17th May 2024

Location: St. Columbas National School, Tullow, Co. Carlow

Suitability: School Going Children

CYCLE SAFETY

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May. It will include:

  • Cycle safety school art competition
  • Cycle Safety training

Time:  9.00am-3pm

Date: Monday 13th – Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Bishop Foley School, Station Rd., Carlow

Suitability: School going Children-2nd-6th class

CARLOW REGIONAL YOUTH SERVICES BIKE FEST 2024

Bike Fest 2024 will consist of pop-up workshops across Carlow Town -The Vault on Burrin Street, Hanover Park, Carlow Town Park, Carlow Skate Park and Tullow rd., area.

Activities will include 5 bike repair workshops led by an experienced tutor to teach young people about taking care of their bikes and doing their own basic repairs. Information on cycling safety and rules of the road, fun activities for young people to work on their balance, bike handling skills, obstacle course, and bicycle treasure hunt.

Time:  3pm – 6pm Daily

Date: The Vault: 13/05/2024: 4pm – 6pm: pop up repair workshops & safety information.

Hanover Park: 14/05/2024: 4pm – 6pm: pop up repair workshops, safety information, bike handling obstacle course.

Tullow Road Community Pitch: 15/05/2024: 4pm-6pm: pop up repair workshops, safety information, bike handling obstacle course.

Carlow Town Park: 16/05/2024: 4pm – 6pm: pop up repair workshops, safety information, bike handling obstacle course and treasure hunt.

Carlow Skate Park: 17/05/2024: 3pm – 5pm: pop up repair workshops, safety information, bike handling obstacle course and treasure hunt.

Location: The Vault on Burrin Street, Hanover Park, Carlow Town Park, Carlow Town Park, Carlow Skate Park, and Tullow Road area.

Suitability: Children aged 10-12 years and teenagers

SAFE CYCLING

This event will run throughout the week 13th-17th May. It will include:

  • Promote cycling to and from training and match events during the week.
  • Bike Maintenance
  • High Visibility and safety measures.

Time:  6 – 8pm

Date: Monday 13th – Friday 17th 2024

Location: Palatine G.A.A Club

Suitability: Juveniles, U7’s, U9’s, U11’s, U13’s and U, 15’s

 

FRIDAY 17TH MAY 2024
GIRLS BLUEWAY TRACK SOCIAL CYCLE

This will provide an opportunity for Teenage Girls 2nd-5th year to enjoy a leisurely cycle from Bagenalstown to Graiguenamanagh/St. Mullins along the scenic Barrow Track. A buddy system will be in place so the girls can bring a friend with them on the cycle.

Time:  9.00am – 3pm

Date: Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Bagenalstown- Graiguenmagh/St. Mullins. Along the Barrow Track

Suitability: Teenage Girls 2nd-5th Class

OURAGH CYCLE

This will give boys and girls aged 8-12 years and their families an opportunity to engage in a 4-mile annual cycle. The kids will engage in a bling your bike competition, art competition and a Bike repair workshop.

Time:  9am-3pm

Date: Friday 17th May 2024

Location: Ouragh, Co. Carlow

Suitability: Boys and Girls aged 8-12years and their families

BIKE DAY

Children between the ages of 5-12 years and their families can enjoy a fun day of Bike events which will include:

  • Relay Race
  • Obstacle course
  • Wash your bike
  • Learn how to fix your punctures

Time:  9am-3pm

Location: Queen of the Universe, Bagenalstown, Co.Carlow

Suitability: Primary School Boys & Girls & parents

 

SATURDAY 18TH MAY 2024
TEENAGE CYCLING GROUP – CAMP LEIGHLINBRIDGE TO CLASHGANNY AND GRAIGUENAMANAGH

Cycle from Leighlinbridge along the Barrow Track through Bagenalstown, Goresbridge, Clashganny and arriving in Graiguenamanagh where we camp for the night in Brandon Hill Campsite. Return by bike the following morning.

Cub scout and Beavers to join us for a cycling activity in Graiguenamanagh on Sunday afternoon.

Time:  10am-4pm

Date: Saturday 18th May & Sunday 19th May 2024

Location: Leighlinbridge- Clashganny/Graiguenamanagh along Barrow Track

Suitability: Teenagers between the ages of 12-16 years

 

SUNDAY 19TH MAY 2024
STREET VELODROME

Carlow Sports Partnership are holding a mass participation event for Bike week this year.

We are bringing the award-winning StreetVelodrome series – a mobile ‘pop-up’ style cycling velodrome to Carlow. StreetVelodrome’s core purpose is to provide easy access to cycling, particularly among grassroots and hard-to-reach groups.

It can facilitate people of all ages and physical abilities and has been used widely by councils to promote the benefits of active lifestyles with schools, families, and community groups.

Time:  11am-4pm

Location: SETU, Main Campus, Kilkenny Rd., CarloW

Suitability: Children & Families

CARLOW RCC YOUTH RACES

Carlow RCC are hosting a 2-stage youth race open to boys and girls from across the country. This will be open to the following age categories: under 12, under 14 and under 16 youths.

Time:  9am-3pm

Date: Sunday 19th May 2024

Location: MSD, Dublin Rd., Carlow

Suitability: Boys and Girls, aged 10-15 years, their families, and supporters.

RATHOE COMMUNITY 5KM CYCLE

A chance for Children from the age of 4-16 to enjoy a leisurely cycle in the vicinity of Rathoe Village.

Time: 12noon

Date: Sunday 19th of May 2024

Location: Rathoe, Co. Carlow

Suitability: Boys & Girls aged between 4-16 years of age.
