Saturday – 11th September Rás na mBan Criterium

Come along to see the thrilling spectacle of the Criterium. Our best female rides lap the city in an adrenalin packed circuit race in Kilkenny City Centre, the fastest stage of the Rás na mBan with the imposing medieval splendour of Kilkenny Castle as it’s backdrop.

Sunday – 12th September Bikeweek Launch

Come out and support the best female riders on Sunday’s sixth and final stage of Rás na mBan 2021.  The stage starts at 11.30am and brings the riders back to Kilkenny Castle via the scenic climb of Woodstock in Inistioge. The champion of Rás na mBan 2021 will be crowned at 2pm at Kilkenny Castle and Bikeweek will be officially launched.

  Ride Leader Training opens for bookings

Cycling Ireland Ride Leader training will provide leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and manage a group of cyclists on the road in club/group rides.  This will prepare you to provide safe and enjoyable cycling experiences for people of all levels of ability and age.  Course takes place on 23rd  October.

  Free E-Bike (electric) and Cargo Bike Trials

E-bikes trials will be available for a loan period of one week.  Try out an E-Bike on your daily commute and share your experiences of cycling on our social media pages!  To apply for a trial, email: cyclekilkenny@gmail.com

Tuesday – 14th September Bikeweek Film – Why We Cycle

There are more bicycles than people in the Netherlands.  Why We Cycle invites regular cyclists and scientists from all walks of life to talk about Dutch cycling culture.

Regain cycling skills, learn how to negotiate junctions, try some new routes in town and build your confidence over 4 weeks.  Starts Wednesday 15th  September at 7pm for 4 weeks.  Meet at City Library.
