There will be a family cycle hosted around Poppintree Park. It will follow the loop of the Park Run and will be clearly marked out. | PEDALPALOOZA CYCLE PARADE
Join us on Capel Street at 11am for a fun, family-friendly, traffic-free cycle through city streets. Led by Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste we set off at 11.30am on a 5km route which will take us along the River Liffey and over to Fairview Park. With hundreds of us cycling together in convoy and music from our bike DJ, we’ll take over the street so it’s a great opportunity to experience a car-free cycle and see the city centre in a new way! Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for a leisurely ride, this event is perfect for all ages and skill levels. Our destination is Fairview Park where the Pedalpalooza Bike Festival takes place from 12-4pm. The festival is a free family-friendly celebration of cycling with fun activities throughout the day including a cycle circus, bike decoration, magic show, vintage bike display, games, music, performances and opportunities to try out a range of different bikes or to take a trip on a trishaw. | PEDALPALOOZA BIKE FESTIVAL
A FREE day of family fun for cycling lovers of all ages, jam-packed from start to finish with great music, bike-related arts & crafts, exciting demonstrations. Check out the main stage throughout the day for an entertaining mix of Irish music, magic and comedy for all ages, with performances from Magic Marta, Frankie Magilligan and Clontarf Ukelele to name but a few. Stop by the Dublin Bay Cycling Centre Obstacle Course to test your skills. Come along to see a BMX performance display by Irish World Championships representative, Dino Jeffers. Make sure to bring your own bikes along and join in the fun at the Craft Corner where you can Bling Your Bike or try out the Bike Tattoo station to customise your wheels! Interested in trying out a new bike? Visit the Bleeper Bikes, Moby and Dublin Bikes stalls to test out their range of electric, cargo and longtail bikes. Or sit back and relax in a trishaw and be taken for a spin by one of our pilots. Marvel at the skills of the unicycle display and admire the wide and varied selection of both classic and accessible bikes on site. With lots more to see and do for the whole family including delicious food and drink available to purchase, Pedalpalooza is shaping up to be a great, FREE day out for the whole family! | COMMUNITY GARDENS CYCLE
Bike Week is also Biodiversity Week and the Dublin Cycling Campaign has teamed up with Dublin Community Growers to organise community gardens cycle and biodiversity workshop on Saturday, 18 May. Events will take place on both the north and south sides of Dublin and are follows: Southside Route Meet at 11am at Richmond Barracks / Stil Garden in Inchicore for a 20-minute tour. The group will then leave and head to Flanagan’s Fields, Taplins Fields Bridgefoot Street and on to Mud Island in North Strand arriving at 1.15pm. Northside Route Meet at 11am at Raheny Village Community Garden for a 20-minute tour. The group will then leave and head to Killester Blooms, Mucky Lane and on to Mud Island in North Strand arriving at 1.15pm. There will be refreshments at Mud Island until 2pm when the biodiversity workshop will begin. The Sandymount Fun Cycle is 3km long and accessible for all the family. Meeting at Bath Avenue, the cycle will do a loop and a finish in Sandymount Green. | THE BIKE HUB – BIKE TOWN FESTIVAL
Bike Town Festival celebrates cycling for all ages and abilities! We will start in The Bike Hub in Eamonn Ceannt Park with a costumed bike parade at 12, going around the interior of the park and leading into the velodrome to kick off the event. The event includes a Show’n’Shine competition for the best looking bikes, free bike safety checks, free bike tattoos, a swap meet for your old cycling accessories, Irish cycling brands, BMX obstacle course, and of course, Dublin’s free accessible bike fleet.
