12 September 2019

Local Link will be in attendance at the National Ploughing Championships in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow from 17 – 19 September as part of the Government of Ireland Village.

The Government of Ireland will have a significant presence at the NPC this year, with 150 Government Exhibitors in 19 marquees across 13,000 sq. metres. The Brexit Hub will encompass the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Bord Bia, the Business and Employment: Welfare and Tax marquee and the Government of Ireland central marquee. Information and advice will be on hand about the practical steps we all can take to prepare for Brexit.

The Local Link stand will be located in the Community: Rural and Gaeltacht Supports section of the Government of Ireland Village, in Block 4, Row 19, Stand 417, and businesses and consumers alike are encouraged to stop by to discuss the importance of connectivity and accessibility in the rural areas of the country.

Margaret Malone, Rural Transport Manager at the NTA, said:

“Local Link is a vital service to rural communities, providing door-to-door bus services in villages, towns, and rural areas. Local Link managers from all offices will be present over the three-day period, and we welcome the opportunity to discuss the growth of Local Link to date nationwide”.

Businesses, consumers and members of the public are being encouraged to visit the Government of Ireland’s Brexit Hub at this year’s National Ploughing Championships (NPC). The Hub, located in the Government of Ireland Village, will include stands, exhibitors and demonstrations providing a range of practical tips and information on how to prepare for Brexit, whether you are a businessperson or a consumer. With an expected attendance of a quarter of a million people, the NPC 2019 is seen as an important opportunity to engage directly with members of the public on the steps we can all take to be Brexit ready.

Local Link services are operated and managed by 15 Local Link offices throughout the country, managing the day-to-day requests and delivery of bus services year-round.
