A new public awareness campaign, “Be the Clamp Champ”, has today been launched by the National Transport Authority (NTA) to help educate drivers on common parking violations and how to avoid being clamped altogether. The campaign aims give clear, practical advice to help cut down on the number of clamping incidents in towns and cities nationwide.
Many instances of vehicle clamping arise from minor yet preventable infractions, such as exceeding time limits, parking on footpaths, or failing to pay the correct fee at Pay and Display machines.
The video aims to explain common mistakes and offers tips like:
- Always read street signs and road markings carefully
- Use verified parking apps to confirm legality and time limit
- When using a print parking ticket or permit, ensure it’s displayed clearly in the windshield
NTA is the prescribed regulator in the Vehicle Clamping Act 2015.
