TFI Anseo App for Limerick from Monday 13 October 2025
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today announced the launch of TFI Anseo, a new Smart Demand-Responsive Transport (DRT) service in Limerick, beginning Monday, 13 October 2025.
Part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan
This pilot initiative, part of the NTA’s Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, marks the third of its kind introduced and follows the successful introduction of the services in Achill and Killarney earlier this year.`
As the city continues to grow and evolve, TFI Anseo aims to enhance the public transport offering to better meet the needs of residents, especially in areas with limited daily services including during off-peak hours.
Servicing Limerick City Centre, University of Limerick, Corbally, Mill Road, and Rhebogue areas
The pilot service will operate in the Corbally, Mill Road, and Rhebogue areas, providing convenient links into Limerick City Centre and the University of Limerick.
Inclusive and Accessible Transport Solution
The service offers a flexible, user-focused solution that can bridge these gaps, making public transport more inclusive and accessible for everyone. By tailoring services to real-time demand, it ensures that communities previously underserved by a fixed-route system can travel with greater ease and reliability.
Smart, Technology-Enabled Mobility
TFI Anseo aims to meet these needs by offering a flexible, technology-enabled public transport service that complements existing infrastructure. It provides a smarter way to travel, connecting people to medical appointments, retail centres, workplaces, and social events, without relying on private cars. This is especially important in urban areas where congestion, parking limitations, and environmental concerns demand innovative solutions.
Booking and User Experience
Passengers can book trips easily through the TFI Anseo app, which brings together the convenience of modern rideshare platforms with the affordability and reliability of a public transport service. Unlike fixed-route services, this model allows users to request pick-ups and drop-offs anywhere within the service area, offering greater accessibility and freedom of movement.
Operated by Local Link Limerick Clare
The service will be operated by Local Link Limerick Clare, with clearly branded TFI Anseo vehicles. It will run seven days a week, year-round, offering a vital transport link to residents in areas with limited transport options and increasing service frequency for greater convenience.
Affordable Fares for All
Along with benefits for climate targets and reducing the number of car trips, the Smart DRT pilot aims to improve first and last mile connectivity by offering affordable, convenient links to wider transport networks.
Fares for most trips will cost €3 or less, ensuring the service remains affordable for all users.
Smarter more flexible transport to Limerick
John Nott, Head of Public Transport Services Planning at the NTA, said: “TFI Anseo brings smarter, more flexible transport to Limerick, helping people get where they need to go, especially in areas with fewer options. By responding to real-time demand, it makes public transport more accessible, sustainable, and user-friendly. We’re excited to see how it supports communities and improves everyday journeys.”
Making everyday travel more convenient, inclusive, and sustainable
Anne Gaughan, General Manager of TFI Local Link Limerick Clare, said: “We are delighted to partner with the National Transport Authority on the launch of TFI Anseo in Limerick.
“By improving last-mile connectivity, TFI Anseo makes it easier for people to link seamlessly with wider transport networks and reach the opportunities that matter most, from work and education to healthcare and social activities. TFI Anseo will make everyday travel more convenient, inclusive, and sustainable for communities in the area.”
