Improves local connectivity in areas including Corbally, Mill Road and Rhebogue, Limerick City Centre

Connecting Ireland Logo (300x154)TFI Anseo first launched in October 2025 as part of the NTA’s Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan. It was introduced to improve local connectivity in areas including Corbally, Mill Road and Rhebogue, providing convenient links to Limerick City Centre and the University of Limerick. TFI Anseo was designed to bridge this gap with a more inclusive and accessible transport option.

TFI Anseo operates seven days a week

The service operates seven days a week and allows passengers to request pickups and drop offs anywhere within the designated zone. This flexible model significantly increases freedom of movement for residents and supports everyday journeys to medical appointments, work, education, retail centres and social activities. Fares were set at affordable levels, with most trips costing €3 or less to ensure accessibility for all users.

Extended hours and additional vehicle

In November, the NTA extended TFI Anseo operating hours to run from 06:30 to 23:00 daily. To further support growing demand, a third vehicle will be added to the service from Monday, 9 March, improving passenger access and reducing waiting times.

Commenting on the milestone, Edmund Betagh, TFI Local Link Programme Manager at the NTA, said:

Reaching 20,000 passenger journeys is an important moment for TFI Anseo and demonstrates the strong appetite for flexible, technology driven transport in Limerick. The service is helping us better meet the needs of communities that have not always been well served by traditional bus routes.

The addition of a third vehicle will allow us to meet demand more effectively and give even more people the opportunity to choose sustainable public transport for everyday travel.

Anne Gaughan, General Manager of TFI Local Link Limerick Clare, added:

The response from passengers has been extremely positive since the launch of TFI Anseo. Residents tell us it brings new convenience, choice and reliability to their daily journeys. For many people, it has made essential services easier to reach and has provided a more seamless connection to the wider transport network.

We continue to welcome feedback and encourage everyone in the service area to try TFI Anseo and share their experience as the pilot progresses.

Mobile App allows passengers to book trips on demand

TFI Anseo is powered by a dedicated mobile app that allows passengers to book trips on demand. The technology optimises routes in real time, meaning vehicles travel based on where passengers need to go rather than following a fixed timetable or path.

Limerick Residents encouraged to avail of the service

he NTA encourages residents to avail of the service during the remainder of the pilot phase and to contribute feedback that will help shape the future of sustainable and accessible mobility in Irish towns and cities.

This initiative is funded through the Government’s Climate Action Fund and supports the goals of the NTA’s Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan.
