Report on Inbound People Movements Across the Cork City Cordon

The Cork City Cordon Report offers a detailed snapshot into inbound traffic flows on weekdays between 07:00 and 19:00.

The report, commissioned by the National Transport Authority (NTA), surveys all inbound travel from areas surrounding and enclosing Cork City during the morning and evening peak periods.

The findings

The findings highlight key trends in how people commute into Cork, including data on transport mode shares and travel volumes.

Surveys were undertaken in November 2023, with 20 strategic locations chosen to serve as key monitoring points.

20% used sustainable modes of transports (bus, rail, cycling, walking).

According to the report, 20% of overall people movements travelling inbound used sustainable modes of transports (bus, rail, cycling, walking).

The data from the report is key to inform ongoing transport planning and drive sustainable mobility initiatives in Cork.

The survey is part of a broader monitoring programme that also includes the M50, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
