22 June 2026

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today announced an additional morning departure on the Kilkenny City Bus Service KK2 route, providing increased capacity for passengers travelling during peak morning times during the week.

NTA’s town & city bus programme

The enhancement forms part of the NTA’s Town & City Bus Programme, which supports the delivery of improved public transport services in towns and communities across Ireland. The programme aims to make public transport a more attractive and accessible option for everyday journeys, while supporting sustainable travel and reducing reliance on private car use.

The new morning service from 29 June

The new 08:00 departure will commence from Monday, 29 June and operate between Monday and Friday along the entirety of the route from Cillín Hill to St Luke’s Hospital with stops at Dublin Road, Newpark Shopping Centre, Nowlan Park, Kilkenny Station and Loreto.

“We are pleased to introduce this additional morning departure on the KK2 route. By increasing capacity during one of the busiest periods of the day, this service will help improve reliability and provide passengers with greater flexibility when travelling to work, education, healthcare services and other destinations across Kilkenny.”
