The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with Limerick City and County Council, has published the Draft Limerick City Centre Transport Plan and is inviting members of the public, stakeholders and interested parties to review the proposals and make submissions.
The Draft Plan identifies and prioritises the transport interventions required to support the continued development of Limerick City Centre and to help realise the long term vision for the city as set out in the Limerick Development Plan and the Mayor’s Programme, More for Limerick. The Plan also supports the delivery of the Limerick Shannon Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (LSMATS), which seeks to provide a more sustainable, accessible and efficient transport network across the metropolitan area.
The proposed measures aim to improve movement within the city centre for residents, workers, students and visitors while supporting economic development, placemaking, sustainability and climate action objectives.
As part of the statutory consultation process, the following documents are being made available for public inspection:
- Draft Limerick City Centre Transport Plan
- Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report
- Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening Report
The consultation period will run from 23 July 2026 until 12 October 2026.
