NTA publishes 2025 Annual Report and Financial Statements

Record year for Public Transport growth

The National Transport Authority (NTA) has published its Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year ending 31 December 2025.

The year demonstrated both the scale of public demand for better transport choices and the capability of the NTA, working with its partners, to deliver meaningful improvements for passengers and communities. In 2025, more than 363 million passenger journeys were made on TFI public transport services, representing another record year for public transport usage.

Key achievements in 2025

Some of the key milestones and achievements delivered during 2025 included:

  • Railway Order application approved for Luas Finglas
  • Launch of the BusConnects Dublin E-Spine and F-Spine
  • Opening of Woodbrook DART Station
  • Approval of the Dublin Road Transport Corridor planning application for BusConnects Galway
  • Railway Order application approved for DART+ Coastal North
  • Final three approvals granted for Core Bus Corridor Schemes
  • Deployment of 124 fully operational electric buses as part of BusConnects Dublin
  • Introduction of 36 new or enhanced bus routes in rural Ireland under the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan
  • Introduction of a new finance system
  • A 25% increase in the number of fully electric vehicles in the SPSV fleet

Supporting sustainable transport delivery

These achievements reflect continued progress across public transport infrastructure, service improvements, decarbonisation initiatives and organisational development, supporting the delivery of a more connected, accessible and sustainable transport network throughout Ireland.
