Bus Éireann announces improved services and timetables on Route 279, Tralee to Killarney

Bus Éireann, is pleased to announce significantly enhanced services and timetables on Route 279, Tralee to Killarney which will come into effect on Sunday, 10 December.

The significantly enhanced Route 279 is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route 279 will now provide a service from Tralee to Killarney, via Killorglin offering increased frequency throughout the daily timetable, with expanded hours of operation including an earlier departure from Tralee at 6am and later departure at 11.05pm. The improved service will provide twelve daily round trips seven days a week, offering passengers connectivity with MTU Tralee as well as rail services in Killarney.

Bus Éireann Route 279 will serve MTU North Campus, MTU South Campus, Tralee, Castlemaine, Milltown, Killorglin, Beaufort Bridge, Fossa, and Killarney.

Bus Éireann Route 279A will now provide one return daily service, Monday to Friday between Cahersiveen and Tralee with the first departure from Cahersiveen at 7.30am and the return journey from Tralee at 3.10pm

Bus Éireann Route 279A will serve Cahersiveen, Kells, Glenbeigh, Killorglin Miltown, Castlemaine, Tralee, MTU and Tralee bus station.

        “Bus Eireann is delighted to introduce these improved services between Tralee and Killarney, significantly increasing the daily services for passengers travelling via Killorglin with twelve daily trips, Monday to Sunday,” said Aled Williams, Bus Éireann, Senior Operations Manager, South. “Thanks to the National Transport Authority, through the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, customers can be connected along routes including Tralee, Castlemaine, Killorglin, and Killarney with our first weekday departure from Killarney at 5:50am and late departures from Tralee at 11:05pm, this enhanced service will enable us to connect our growing number of customers with who and what matters to them.”
