Changes to cash fare options on selected TFI Local Link services are due to come into effect on 17th August 2026.
Fare Products No Longer Available with Cash
Under planned changes, several fare products including Adult Return, Adult 7-Day, Young Adult Single, Young Adult Return, Young Adult 7-Day, Child 7-Day and Child Return will no longer be available to purchase with cash. However, customers can continue to purchase both Adult Single and Child Single fares with cash.
Alternative payment options
Customers who currently use these fare options are encouraged to avail of alternative payment methods including TFI Leap Cards, the TFI Go app and contactless payment.
Benefits of TFI Leap Cards and Digital Payments
TFI Leap Cards, including Young Adult and Student Leap Cards, offer a convenient way to pay and can provide better value for passengers. Availing of digital payment options can also help create a quicker, smoother and more seamless travel experience.
These changes form part of ongoing efforts to reduce cash handling on services while continuing to offer core cash fare options to customers.
