The introduction of contactless payments in Kildare South Dublin builds on the successful pilot programme in Cavan and Monaghan and follows rollouts across several other TFI Local Link services nationwide. With Kildare South Dublin now becoming the next TFI Local Link office to introduce contactless payments, the programme has passed the halfway point of the national rollout. This continued expansion reflects strong passenger feedback and the NTA’s commitment to delivering modern, user friendly payment options for people using rural and regional public transport.

Availability of Fare Options

Contactless payment is currently available for single journey fares. Daily and weekly fare products continue to be available via the Leap website and the TFI Leap Top Up App. TFI Leap cards, cash payments and Free Travel Cards remain valid for use across all eligible TFI Local Link services.

Supporting Modernisation of Public Transport

The move is part of the NTA’s ongoing programme to modernise public transport fare systems nationwide, with a particular focus on improving accessibility and enhancing the passenger experience in rural and regional communities.
