The National Transport Authority (NTA), in partnership with Dublin Bus, has today announced changes being introduced to its Route 24 service which will improve public transport connectivity for its users.
Route diversion via Beneavin Road
From Monday, 24 August 2026, Route 24 will operate via the Beneavin Road, enhancing the service and improving access to the wider Dublin Bus network for local residents.
The NTA and Dublin Bus have worked together to assess the feasibility of diverting this service, which has included testing the ability of buses to make the turn from Glasnevin Avenue into Beneavin Road, with the assessment confirming that the diversion can be safely accommodated.
The revised Route 24 will provide passengers along the Beneavin Road area with improved access to destinations and connections served by the route, while maintaining the overall Route 24 service.
Impact on journey times
The diversion is expected to add approximately five minutes to the current round trip, with the change being delivered without requiring an increase in the number of buses required to operate the route.

Speaking on the changes, Jeremy Ryan, Director of Public Transport Services has said:
