Driving positive change

The organisations have demonstrated leadership in making sustainable travel easier and more attractive for employees, students and visitors.

Among the notable achievements, several organisations demonstrated improvements including the enhancement of cycling facilities, the installation of electric bike charging points, and the decommissioning of car parking spaces to support more sustainable transport options. Other organisations introduced initiatives such as bike libraries, active promotion of carpooling, and travel policies that prioritise walking, cycling, public transport, and shared mobility.

Several workplaces significantly expanded their cycling infrastructure, increasing bicycle parking capacity while reducing space allocated to private vehicles. Others were recognised for providing inclusive facilities, such as accessible bicycle and cargo bike parking, while ensuring that car parking is prioritised for people with disabilities.

More about the Smarter Travel Mark

The Smarter Travel Mark supports organisations in assessing and improving their sustainable travel policies and initiatives. Workplaces and campuses are encouraged to create environments that make it easier for people to choose sustainable transport for their daily journeys.

Congratulating the award recipients, the NTA acknowledged the positive impact these organisations are having in reducing transport emissions, promoting healthier travel choices and helping to create more sustainable communities.

The NTA looks forward to continuing to work with organisations across Ireland as they develop and expand sustainable travel initiatives for staff, students and visitors.
