Luas – Dublin tram services

Contract

This contract is for the provision of light rail (tram) services in Dublin. Following a competitive tender process, the National Transport Authority and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) awarded an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract to Transdev Dublin Light Rail Limited. The contract commenced in December 2019 and is for six years, with an extension option of up to five years.

The Authority has assigned the day-to-day management of the Luas operating contract to TII.

The contract and its schedules are available in the links below:

Services

Luas comprises the Red Line between Tallaght/Saggart in west Dublin and Connolly Station/The Point in Dublin Docklands, and the Green Line between Brides Glen/Cherrywood in south Dublin and Broombridge in north-west Dublin. Both lines serve Dublin city centre. Further information on the Red Line and Green Line is available on the Transport for Ireland (TFI) website.

Performance

The contract sets out performance standards that the operator Transdev must meet. If certain performance standards are not met, a deduction in contractual performance payments is made.  The Authority and TII monitor the operation of the Luas contract and require the operator to provide operational reports on a periodic (four weekly) basis. A quarterly performance report is provided to the Authority. The quarterly performance reports are available here.
