Applicant for an SPSV vehicle licence Requirements
The applicant for an SPSV vehicle licence must:
- Be the owner of the vehicle. A vehicle licence can be issued only to a person who is the owner of the vehicle or is otherwise legally entitled to the use and possession of the vehicle (such as under a lease or hire-purchase agreement).
- Show that their tax affairs are up to date by producing a current tax clearance certificate. This is the TC2 certificate, obtainable from your local Revenue office, which confirms that your tax affairs are up to date. (Note that the name on the certificate must be identical to the name on the licence application and must be valid on the date on which the licence is granted.)
A person who is permitted to remain in Ireland as the holder of a Stamp 2 visa issued by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service of the Department of Justice & Equality is not permitted to hold an SPSV vehicle licence, nor may they rent a licensed vehicle to operate as an SPSV.
