The Minister for Transport today announced the reopening of the 2025 Electric Small Public Service Vehicle (eSPSV25) Grant Scheme. The full announcement can be found HERE. The scheme will reopen on Monday 23rd June 2025 at 10am.
The eSPSV25 Grant Scheme provides funding to owners of small public service vehicles, such as taxis, hackneys and limousines, to buy electric vehicles. The scheme is funded by the Department of Transport and administered by NTA.
Further information about the eSPSV25 Grant Scheme, including how to apply, can be found HERE.
Prospective applicants should note the following important criteria:
- Existing SPSV licence holders and new SPSV licence applicants can apply to the eSPSV grant scheme
- New licence applicants can apply for an electric wheelchair accessible taxi or hackney licence, or a limousine only.
- Existing saloon licence holders can apply to upgrade their older or high milage ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles to a fully electric vehicle
- Applicants have 2 months to complete the grant process and get their new electric vehicles on the road as a taxi, hackney or limousine. Applicants looking to purchase an electric vehicle with a long or uncertain order time should be careful with their selection as extensions may not be provided.
- NTA may form a cancellation list from applications received. Applicants on the cancellation list will be notified that they are currently not successful in receiving a Grant Offer, but they may receive a Grant Offer later in 2025, should funding become available.
