The National Transport Authority (NTA) has today announced details of Bike Week 2023,
which runs from Saturday May 13th to Sunday May 21st.
Over 900 Events
Bike Week is an annual celebration and promotion of the benefits of cycling with over 900 events taking place across the country, including family events, heritage cycles, maintenance workshops, and learn-to-cycle events.
All 31 local authority areas are involved in Bike Week with events being organised jointly through the local authorities and local sports partnerships.
Anne Graham, CEO of the NTA said: “Bike Week is an important opportunity to highlight the benefits of cycling as a healthy and sustainable form of transport for everyone in the community. It has been fantastic to see the positive engagement from all the Local Authorities and Local Sports Partnerships which has helped Bike Week grow from strength to strength.
“With so many events taking place across the country, there really is something for everyone. From the popular family bike festivals and community cycles, to local heritage and greenway cycles to schools events, I’d encourage everybody to get involved.”
Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan said: “Bike week is going from strength to strength. It’s great to see so many activities taking place nationwide and I’d like to thank everybody at local level for their work in making Bike Week 2023 a reality.
“Cycling is important in terms of tackling climate change, but there’s more to it than that. Cycling also has a role to play in freeing up our cities and towns of traffic, making them more liveable for everyone as well as making it easier to get around.”

Cycle Come and Try at the Phoenix Park, the Pedalpalozza Parade and Bike Festival in Dublin
Highlights of Bike Week 2023 include the Inclusive Cycle Come and Try at the Phoenix Park, the Pedalpalozza Parade and Bike Festival in Dublin, to the Spin & Dip in Clare, the Street Art Tour in Cork, the Spinning Sixties Greenway Cycle in Limerick, the Bird Song By Bike (Dawn Chorus) in Sligo and the Slow Roll in Wexford.

- Cycle to Soccer in Mayo
- Women’s High Tea Cycle in Waterford
- Street Art Tour in Cork
- Bike Treasure Hunt in Tipperary
